MONTANA SP3

A CREDIBLE MUSIC TRANSDUCER

The original MONTANA SP and the later versions of this loudspeaker, the MONTANA SP2 and the current MONTANA SP3, have retained their status on Stereophile's Recommended List since 1997. The latest edition of this highly acclaimed high-end loudspeaker - the MONTANA SP3 - easily renewed its Recommended status after a review performed by Stereophile's Barry Willis in August 2003. The MONTANA SP3 is a rarely credible music transducer that will give its owner extraordinary listening experiences time after time, year after year.

MONTANA SP3 is manufactured in the USA. Cabinet material, drivers, cross-over components, wiring and damping materials are chosen for their sonic qualities only. The SP3 is capable of generating an amazingly transparent and huge soundstage in all directions. Its performance is often associated with much bigger and more expensive loudspeakers. The SP3 is very flexible as far as amplifier matching is concerned. You can hook it up with modestly powered tube amplifiers and heavy solid state amplifiers with excellent results.

The cabinet is significantly more rigid and heavy than almost any other loudspeakers in its price range. The fit and finish is superb. The assymetrical cabinet shape and the different resonance frequencies of all cabinet walls and internal bracing parts, ensure a spectacular resistance against vibrations and resonances that would otherwise cause distortion. The mid range presentation is transparent and stunningly realistic, and the top octaves are presented with a fascinating airiness and clarity. The cabinets are rigidly designed with a non-compromise approach. The bonus comes in the form of a non-coloured and lifelike musical presentation that the listener never gets tired with.

Two 7 " Vifa drivers handle the bass region and mid range region, while a 1" tweeter reproduce the highest frequencies.

The cross-over section offers a supreme design with metalized polypropylene capacitors, which ensures superb transparency in the upper octaves. The SP3 really lets the music flow in an untouched manner.

Bi-wired speaker cables are highly recommended, thereby eliminating any interference between the two cross-over sections.
